Waslet ix-xitwa, u fuq dik ir-roqgħa ħamrija fejn il-parrukkier kien ħaffer il-ħofra, kiber ħafna ħafur twil. It-tfal tar-rgħajja jaqtgħu minnu biex jgħamluh tbiebet; iżda b'għġaeb kbir, meta jonfħu ġo fih, kull betbut beda jghid: "is-sultan kibritlu għadma....is-sultan kibirlu qarn!"
Winter had arrived and right on the plot of earth were the barber had dug out the hole a lot of reeds had grown. The shepherd’s children were cutting the reeds to make reed pipes but to everyone’s astonishment when they were blowing through them, these reed pipes were sounding these words “the king grew a bone… the king grew a horn!”
Is-sultan kibritlu għadma....is-sultan kibirlu qarn!
